Soberlink has recently received approval for their Breathalyzer from the FDA for medical use. The breathalyzer is the first of its kind using a camera and a GPS system to ensure that the individual can’t cheat by having someone else blow into the breathalyzer. Once the individual uses the breathalyzer the data is transmitted to their healthcare provider and or rehab.
According to the National Institute of Health there are 88,000 people who die from alcohol related causes every year, and alcohol use disorder affects upwards of 16 million adults in the USA.

OCRS drug tests clients in our program twice a week to ensure they aren’t using drugs and/or alcohol. We use mass spectrometry drug tests, which are known as the gold standard of drug tests and can identify the smallest amount of substance possible. In our intensive outpatient program clients visit OCRS throughout the week to attend our one-on-one and group therapy sessions. It’s during these visits we administer the drug tests. If a client returns a drug test that shows they have been using drugs or alcohol we take it extremely seriously and make the necessary moves to ensure they have everything they need to get their sobriety back.

Summit County Ohio has seen a huge jump in opiate overdoses this year. This year eighty people have died from drug overdoses in Summit County. Emergency rooms have treated over 700 drug overdose so far this year with a spike in July that saw double digit overdoses each day for more than a week.
Non profits in the area say the biggest problem is a lack of treatment options for addicts. The people are rallying for the Governor to declare a state of emergency so they can attract more help. Substance abuse treatment centers in Ohio are experiencing high volumes and in turn have had to turn people away when beds are full.
In July Congress passed a Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act that is supposed to be helping states like Ohio battle addiction by adding around $180 million to the budget for addiction and recovery programs.

Tony Pera, Vocation/Education Specialist
Tony is our vocation and education specialist. He is a resident of Orange County and serves to connect our clients to a vast network of work, education, and community resources. Tony received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Strategic Communication from Ohio State University. His background in business sales coupled with his personal experience in recovery helps him to connect our clients to the world of work and healthy sober lifestyles.
Tony joined Orange County Recovery Services in June 2014 and created the
Vocational program. He has helped hundreds of young adults obtain meaningful employment in Orange County. He has also helped many young men complete their high school equivalency (GED) and gain admission into various colleges in the area. The goal of our vocational program is to help young men discover a path to success.
After each client completes the clinical intake process, Tony schedules an interview to determine education and career goals. After some time in the IOP process, clients are cleared for job search by their case manager and join Tony’s group to discuss and actively engage in job search. Tony guides each client through the resume writing process and tracks the job application and interview process. Because clients often struggle with fear and anxiety in the job search process, Tony often accompanies clients to a job interview and counsels them through their fears. Tony quickly earns respect and cooperation from clients and their families. Tony helps them move their lives forward.
